Sunshine Campus

The Rochester Rotary Sunshine Campus was established in 1922 to meet the needs of children with physical disabilities. This premier facility was relocated in 1973 to its current site on 157 beautifully wooded acres in Rush, New York, is completely accessible to people with disabilities.

What makes the Sunshine Campus so unique is that it was originally developed so that children with physical disabilities just get to be kids during their stay. No disability is too severe to keep children from being children, whether they visit during Rochester Rotary’s summer camping program known as Sunshine Camp, or at other times throughout the year.

While serving the needs of children with disabilities was the central focus of the campus’ mission for decades, the campus underwent a vitally important strategic planning process in the early 1990's. Through that process, the Rochester Rotary Club now focuses its many programs on serving the needs of people of all ages with disabilities and city young people in our community.

Each year, over 5,700 people from more than 75 not-for-profit organizations live the experience that is the Sunshine Campus. Many of those campers benefit from Rochester Rotary’s camping partnerships. Rotary provides a premier facility, while partners provide quality care for their campers. The Rochester community truly benefits from all that the Sunshine Campus has to offer, year in and year out.
